So you can open the in-car one, and the first lock opens, but when you need to move that 2nd latch by hand, that part is not working?

Not working like stuck, or it moves, but nothing happens?

Update

Sorted the problem , even though this is a full main dealer history car the grease on the mechanism had gone solid . Plenty of WD40 and when grease soft bonnet opened . I then cleaned off old grease and replaced with new.

The grease that the Totota dealer had (massively over)sprayed onto out bonnet catch did something similar, after 6 months it was more like 1 day old gloss paint.

Perhaps it was the same stuff.  It would be interesting to know who makes it, so I can make sure I never accidentally buy some of it.

Spray on greases usually crud up after some time, i remember a situation where spray on lithium grease fixed the problem with gear selector, but after 3 weeks it dried up so much that it was actually worse then before it was sprayed.
