RPM drops down with hasitation

Hello,

 

I just bought a 2007 Camry with 314k KM on the clock. the problem I am facing is that when I take my foot off the gas the rpm suddently drops down and then recovers on its own.

This is probably causing the car to go into lower gears because when I try to accelerate again it gives me a ***** as if it has gone back to 1st gear. Also if I am cursing at 80km plus and take the gas off then again the car seems to lag and slows down suddenly as if someone is pulling from behind. The car runs fine otherwise and also this is causing bad gas millage. I would appreciate any help.
