hi all.

I was hoping someone could explain something to me. When I am sat at the lights with the clutch pushed to the floor and in first gear waiting to go the engine suddenly revs to about 1500 rpm then drops again, I thought i had caught the pedal with my foot but on investigation i don't, and it happens quite regularly. can anyone tell me why this happens. Many thanks. alan.

I was getting high revs this was solved partly by cleaning the air intake with air intake cleaner. Then the problem happened once a week, so I also cleaned the pcv valve with air intake cleaner than no more problems.

Petrol version http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=255221&productId=202903&storeId=10001

The first step is check air filter, then you can follow it to a non flexible plastic pipe and you need a screw driver to take it off.

The pcv valve needs a spanner socket than is longer than usual. On the petrol it is on the right side of the engine, it is all very easy to do if you do not mind scrubbing.
