Battery going flat overnight

I have a new 'Auris Tech Hybrid' and I find that the batteries (hybrid and the 12 volt) are constantly going flat.

I have heard that a trickle charger can be used overnight, is this the normal solution to this  flat Battery problem?

Should not be happening.   Needs looking at by a Toyota technician.

I did that and they suggested the Trickle Charger.  I just hoped that some users may have experienced the same problem!

That’s ridiculous. Contact another dealer if there is one nearby or escalate it to Toyota themselves. What do they expect you to do when you go on holiday and leave your car in an airport car park?

I repeat...SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING.   For both units not to be functioning correctly on a 201`8 car means there IS a problem.

i doubt the hybrid Battery is going flat over night as the car wouldnt start even with a fully charged 12v Battery,

there used to be an issue with the hazard light switch as in when you pressed it to stop the hazards

the power wasnt being turned off and this caused a flat Battery overnight but i'm sure this has been addressed,

charging everynight isnt the answer .

go back to the dealer and leave it with them its their problem not yours let them fix it.

The issue with the hazard warning switch affected some 2013-14 Auris, and there was a factory fix around April 2014.

When you say the hybrid Battery is going flat, how do you know.  If there is not enough power in the 12v Battery the main Battery wont/cant do its job. The 12v "lights up" the hybrid battery. You wont be able to tell on the dashbpard whether the hybrid batt has life unles the 12v battery lights it up, and even then,, if it does light up the dash the hybrid should show at least 2 bars left. Hybrid battery doesnt normally go below 2 bars nor higher then 2 bars from the top.

Hi Catlover,

That is interesting, I was expecting the hybrid Battery to show all bars when charged and the Battery to show less bars, as it loses its charge. Now I have read your comments, I know that this is not the case. Thankyou!

I went back to the dealer and they suggested that I might be shutting down the car incorrectly and thus leaving something still switched on.  They were next to useless in explaining the correct shut down procedure.

Perhaps an experience auris owner would be kind enough to outline the correct startup and shutdown procerdure for me.

The 2 bars at the bottom is, as I see it, a protection for the Battery. If a Battery completely discharges over and over again then it will eventually kill it - and the hybrid big Battery is expensive. So thats good news for us users.

As for a correct start up and shut down procedure - I not heard of one, so if there is proper procedures I be interested myself to learn.  I jump in the car, press the brake and press the POWER (ignition) button and get the READY display. When leaving the car I just make sure handbrake on (or in the Prius, the fooot "hand"brake) press the POWER button and the car shuts down

I had to change the 12v battery on the wifes Auris Hybrid about 3 weeks ago. The car was being left for couple days and the 12v wouldnt fire up the dashboard.  I put a new 12v Optima AGM battery in that cost me £130 and been ok ever since.  I can tell now if the 12v battery is ok as soon as I open the door. There is a quiet hum, bit like a fan sound, this is the braking system being energised ready for you to drive off. Never heard this sound when the 12v battery was dodgy and not going to work. Soon as I put the new 12v in I could hear the hum again, same as in my Prius.

Your dealer is full of BS (who are they?).

Exactly what Catlover states.

If you get out of the car with the power still on the car beeps at you!
