Done In For Tinted Windows

I went to a cruise i normally attend on Sunday's cos of the boredom at home. Straight in the cops wave me over, i can see other cars were called over too.

Cops have got 2 people checking how dark the windows are with this machine and also checking tyre treads. Of course my tyres are fine i know about that.

But when he came to windows in which i had it done like before the new law about windows came, i have failed cos i aint letting enough light through, mines not even limo or smoked tints. On the machine you have to show at least 75% light through, mine was 20%. But i was given 7 days to get rid off the front tints, passenger and driver and call this number to get a person out to check it. But i have to keep my window open at all times... even if it's raining...... that's a load of b******. They are trying to stop as many cars as they can, my mate was lucky, he drove in and straight out before they can catch him in his smoked tints all round.

So i gotta take mine off :crybaby: Y can't they go do something else, like catch people with no insurance or MOT or something!!! Cops hey, one of the cops was so stuck up to us, like we are some rudeboys/rudegirls doing something wrong. He even commented on my blue indicator bulbs at the front which i told him flashes amber and even showed him, he still saying its blue from the outside.. what a ******!! Can't argue with cops...

Has anyone else been done for their tints?? How did you get them off?? apparently the glue is tough to get off :( :crybaby:

Sorry to moan about this, but it has made my day :crybaby:

Sorry to hear that lass...

I was lookin to have my Tubby tinted as well before i even got the car but then these new regulations came into play...

I aint seen no action by the coppers up here in Bradford as every other car has some kinda tints..

I watch the guys tint my Celica last year.. and i thought that with a little soapy water.. you should be able to remove them.. without too much hassle...

hope that helps.. if not.. im sure some more peeps will pop in with some info for ya..

heads up lass... they cant hold us down...

Would if be a good idea to have them retinted the same again after i sorted this out, but that means digging another £80 out to do them..... boo hoo.

Should i leave it no tint or do the legal tint % which is very light or back to the tints i had?? advice please.

I will try soapy warm water, but if anyone has any other ideas, please tell.

Thanks Fizz. :)

just leave em be... is it really worth the risk of the same coppers pullin you again...?

your choice... I thought the new regulations states that you cant have any type of after market tints on the passenger/drivers side?

Hmmm i might leave them plain for a while and see what i feel like doing again. They can't do anything about the back windows, so iam happy i can keep them at least.

Just aint my lucky day today :( boo hoo

I've seen loads of cars with dark tints all the time but i guess you was just unlucky as you was at a cruise so police presence is not surprising...

I think you should just leave it and not tint it back to legal requirements as i think thats not really dark

Kenny!

I think cops are getting bored nowadays and they're just pulling people over and just making loads of excuses up.

I mean so what if the lights are blue or seem blue, what if some people are colour blind, what difference does it make? As long as a person knows where the light is situated then that should be alright instead of the actual colour.

And that thing you said about the window being open even if it's raining, that's just BS. !Removed! get a cold and health is more important than a window being tinted.

Use a hair dryer on the tints before trying to pull them off - it will soften the glue and make it easier. Then use soapy water to remove any of the glue, if that fails then try some brasso with a soft cloth (yellow duster) - it will deffo take the stickyness off and shine the window nicely too

What a load of crap. Lights look blue?! - but they DONT EMIT blue light do they!

As for the window tints - I would change them to emit a little more light - as they said - they emit 20% which aint much.

They were done BEFORE they ****d about with the rules so they werent that far out really but are way out now. You must have been expecting it for the front tints really.

I would still call it entrapment though tbh

Was this at guildford cruise??

Yeah it was at Guildford.

Well i see how it goes without having tints on the front, rang up the guy that did it, cost £40 to take off both tints.... but i might try taking it off myself first... gonna take a lot of time to do :(

Well at least with only the tints at the back and rear my car is more jap style hehehe

I still hate the cops for pulling me over!!!

In argentina it is supposed to be ilegal. But I dont take them off because is more secure if they dont see in the cabin and how many ppl there is inside.

Dont care what they say, the tints STAY ON. Also if politicians cars have them for security, why cant I?

Cheers

Well i have spoken to my local tint person, he said it is not allowed to have tints at the front two windows, but can have a light tint giving 75% of light in, which isnt dark at all, so y bother doing the fronts i guess. But i guess the back ones are safe, but to keep it more safe, don't tint it too dark, apparently my back ones are 17%, iam not quite sure, but they are really light to me.

Really cheesed off when seeing other motors e.g. business man cars having limo black windows all round!!! So unfair. WEll that's life innit, unfair.

:D

Yeah thats it! I think I may go for a 50 or 70 front then a 35 rear, not totally sure though. Was just going to get front windows security tinted.

Maybe it's safer up in Scotland where you are from.. But down south some cops can be harsh when they know a cruise is happening, they pick on us.

It's up to you mate, I'm sure they will be ok, but just beware getting caught, all depends if ur lucky to not be stopped.

The guy thats going to do them said that he hadnt heard of many ppl being done over them but he would say that! lol

There are a LOAD of Type-R Civics going around here with very dark windows. Think the police just have random crackdowns from time to time. Oh well, think its going to be a last minute decision 2moro morning then! lol
