Noisy Exhaust 2001 Yaris

Exhaust is noisy but doesn't appear to be leaking. Not easy to tell exactly where the noise is coming from but it sounds like it could be the box under the sump. I guess that's the catalytic converter. This bit looks older than the rest of the exhaust. I think the middle and rear were replace by the previous owner.

Is it possible that something has broken inside?

Block the tailpipe and listen for the noise.

Just got it back from repair.

As it turned out the middle section of the exhaust had a substantial crack where it met the box. Local garage replaced it for £66.00.

I had a good look underneath but I had convinced myself that the noise was coming from the front so I missed that.

152,000 miles on the clock and still going strong. Over the last year I've had to replace the alternator, water pump and the rear springs, these were done on the MoT.

Pity about the lacquer peel on the red paint. Is that common on all colours or just red?
