Hi,

I have the option to buy a late 90s Previa which I used to own and it would be dirt cheap - however I am not comfortable with spending the necessary amount to get about - my son says he got 22mpg out of it on a recent trip out of town. Does anyone know if an engine swap to the Hilux or Avensis diesel engine (D4D?) is viable? -or whether LPG would be a better bet? I would be interested to know comments - I guess it would need different fuel lines, tank, computerised bits etc. possibly making it all in the too hard basket.

Regards from down under

Personally, I wouldn't even bother with either option.....I'd totally rule out diesel ...and the LPG conversion is far too costly unless you are doing big miles per annum so that the cost can be clawed back over a relatively short time.

25mpg+ should be easily possible on a well maintained Previa...I can do that easily in my 3 litre V6 Estima.!!
