Newbie.. Auris SR180 Owner

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a 58 plate Auris SR180 with 86K miles for £2700, I'm in love with the car it is a great upgrade from my Yaris T sport.

Car has full toyota service history and has only ever been owned by Toyota Epsom -

love the black colour and blacked out windows, car is in mint condition too!

Car Drives well (in my opinion 1st Diesel)  but i have noticed the average MPG is currently at 28MPG!!!! - is this normal, Im not razzing it everywhere but am adjusting to a Diesel i am shifting when it tells me to etc.

i did do a lot of research before buying the SR180 and i do have faith in toyota (Yaris t sport no issues for 6 yrs other than wear and tear)

the speed, size and reliability where key points in me choosing another toyota and the SR180

I see there are common problems with the 2.2 D cat engine - head gasket and DPF failure being the main one and the EGR issue.

is there anything i can do to try and prevent any of the common problems?

also does anybody know what percentage of SR180's have this problem, how likely am i to have issues?

On another note is it worth me tuning anything or should i just accept the engine is already tuned to the max to be reliable?

thanks in advance

Hi Dave, welcome to TOC ☺️

Mpg will vary according to the type of journey & your driving style but it's quite a thirsty engine with the 5th injector. HonestJohn's RealMPG suggests ~37-38 for an Auris 180.

Have you checked the actual mpg manually rather than on the computer?
