RE: 2010 T27 2.0 Diesel 6 speed manual

Does anybody know where i can find the fuse relating to my cigarette lighter so that i can tap into this for my Dashcam as a power feed?

I believe i simply need to twist the power lead coming from my Cobra hardwire kit around one leg of the fuse and it should work fine...so Cobra tell me!

Thank you in advance

Hi Sam, don't know off the top of my head where the aux power socket fuse is but there is a fusebox behind the glove compartment & another below it.

Thank you, i shall get my other half to investigate his own vehicle, least we know where to look, its a shame Haynes didnt make a manual for the T27’s hey.

Hi Sam once again. The fuse box is located under the passenger footwell behind the storage box. The attached should help.

The fuse box location is further back in the footwell, behind the storage box.

The early fuse location differs slightly in number, but is the same position (fuse no.7)

If you are going to use a piggyback holder, the lids may not be refitted unless the piggyback is on a flexible wire.

I have read in another post about some insurance companies using excuses - hard wired dash cams not connected properly, or it is an undisclosed modification. I am using a Nextbase dash cam plugged into the 'cig' socket.

Regardless of what they tell you, twisting a wire around a fuse is not a sensible way to make an electrical connection.

Removing the cigarette lighter from the dash and connecting using a proper spade connector or soldering to the cable feeding the socket would be a far neater and safer solution.

Craig.

People here normally used piggyback fuse to power the Dashcam off the cigarette lighter power.

It easily available in UK.

And this - https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/83394/is-it-usual-for-insurers-to-charge-extra-for-using-a-dashcam-

It seems that some insurance companies are using tricks to save/make money for themselves. So long as the Dashcam is installed properly, I personally see no issues. As I said before, My Dashcam is plugged into the 'cig' socket with the kit supplied. The cam is removed when I leave the car, so not permanent - Nextbase quick release system.

I think two threads need to be merged here as they are the same conversation.

This one:

and this one
Forums/topic/183992-dashcam-hardwire-kit-install (This thread)

Portion of my post from the other thread:
.........Referring to vehicle insurance, I've said the same thing as well, liability can be  concern - BUT:

It does depends on your insurer. Some insurer's will void you for having a Satnav/Phone/Dashcam holder/Anything that's not from factory on the dash.  I've even seen insurers void claims for people having aftermarket visors, air fresheners and even bumper stickers(Seriously). Typically the cheaper the insurer, the worse they are for this kind of thing. Its why you should beware the cheapest.- "The devil comes bearing gifts" as they say. My insurer on the other hand isn't cheap, but they did literally ask me to please "not bother calling them about the dash cam wiring or cosmetic changes". (Mine is a specialist though as my car is one hell of a lot different with a lot of performance modifications.)...........

Cheers to EVERYONE for all your input.

I shall be sourcing a piggy back fuse holder online one of these evenings when i get time, hard being a mum lol, however i did make efforts to stop at my local Halfords today, they carry an autoleads brands, large or small blade version at 8.00 which is a bit expensive, considering im not desperate to complete the job today if you see my point.

I assume the Avensis is of the small type blade guys ? I need to make efforts to look behind the cubby dont i lol.
