Going To Look At An Ae86

I'm going to look at an AE86 on friday. I would like some advice on various things to look at when I go also the best to go about checking if its not a cut and shut or stolen. Thanks for any advice given.

They have 2 available. One is an 'A' Reg the other is 'E'. Surely an 'A' reg is the earlier model (AE85?) since the registration took place between 01 August 1983 and 31 July 1984? Am I making the right decision here?

um, just wondering where in the UK these were? Appreciate you are going to look at them, but if one or both were not suitable maybe you could post here after you have seen them?

Hi mate,

just check for rust really - if its been done then make sure its been done properly...

Also check the sills/pockets/innerguard for rust/rot/holes.

make sure it drives well has good oil pressure (gauge in dash), gear change is smooth no crunching going up in gear 1-2-3-4-5- and down 5-4-3-2-1

Well i'd rather not post their locations just yet. I don't know how reliable the seller is. If I don't go for them then I will definitely post up their location. Thanks for the advice guys

Jezza, They will both be AE86's aslong as they are UK cars we never got the AE85 over here it came with a single cam engine. The A reg should have a different front bumper and nasty interiour trim. The E reg will have stronger halfshafts in the axel, maybe some decent colour trim and a sunroof.
