  • 3 weeks later...

To wrap up - this has now been fitted and I drove it back home (20 minutes) without incident.

The garage is unassuming to put it politely, but it's been coordinated with a colleague who has a close involvement with tuning Impreza Turbos; I therefore trust his judgement in terms of diagnostics and (lack of) air leaks etc. He said it took close to six hours to fit but a lot of that was diagnostics/recoding after. Perhaps they weren't Toyota specialists, I don't know

He also said that the quality of the DPF I supplied was certainly higher than the aftermarket ones he's seen in Portugal in our equivalent of Halfords (Norauto, I think a French chain), so if needed for other clients he'll be ordering more.

Fingers crossed for me.  Thank you everyone and particularly G for all the help and encouragement 🙂

Quote from Toyota to supply and fit - €2800

Total finally spent to supply and fit - about €550.

If I get three years out of it I'll be very happy 🙂

That's excellent and a very substantial saving over dealer price!

Now you have fitted a new DPF you need to have the "DPF regeneration learnt values" reset otherwise the engine ECU will continue to treat the DPF as the old one and will carry out regenerations too often which will kill the new DPF quickly.

  • Thanks 1
