DAB Module Question

Hi, first post here, so hopefully someone can help 🙂

I have a Prius Plus Excel 2014. The car has the JBL GreenEdge (59017) unit, with sat nav which I believe is the Touch&Go variant. I had thought the car came with DAB but later found out it didn't! Although I believe the fitted aerial does have both FM and DAB capability. Local dealer has been no help at all and to be honest, I did not have a particularly good experience with them whilst buying the car, but that's another story haha.

Any way, I am very keen to get the DAB module and would like info on where the best place would be to get one? I have been watching eBay for well over a month and not seen a single one or anything similar! I believe the part number for the module is PZ473-T0210-A0, which I have also search for, but still no luck?

I have attached a couple of photos of the unit and the System Info screen.

Any advice around this topic would be much appreciate, so thank you in advance.

If any further info is required from me, then just let me know.

Thanks for the link Heidfirst, however, I have seen this item, but I believe this would require me to replace the whole head unit? I am not sure though, but from the add it would look like it, but perhaps you could confirm this please?

I have been lead to believe that the module fits behind the existing head unit and then enables the DAB option?

As I said, I have not had a good experience with my local dealer and they have been no help sadly.

it is a modular system so the DAB module plugs into the back of your head unit .

Thanks again Heidfirst for the info, but just to clarify this then.....

If I purchase the item from eBay, as per your link from earlier, I will just get the module that is required to provide my existing JBL Greenedge head unit with DAB radio?

Or, do I get the DAB module and the head unit as shown in the image from the add?

If it is just the module, then I do not think I will be paying £362.95 for both, as the head unit is not required, or will I pay that price for just the module 😞

Which is a shame, as I would have hoped that there was a cheaper alternative for a genuine part than what is available currently?

My understanding is that you will get the parts shown in diagrams A-l on P6 of the installation instructions i.e. DAB module, DAB aerial, cables, fixings/pads etc. 

So no 2nd head unit included!

Thanks again for your response, apologies for not replying sooner, but it's been a bit hectic the last few days!

I have managed to find this item on eBay (link below), but wasn't sure if it was the correct one for my model as it does not state Prius in the description, just Auris and Landcruiser!

Would also be assuming correctly that it will work fine with the JBL Greenedge head unit? 

Would you possibly have any idea if it is the same thing as what is in the other ad?

Hi,

If you look at the actual photos of that listing the module has a PZ473-002010 part no. on it so it could be that there is a difference in cables or fixings to give the pack a 2012 no.

I have no knowledge of the JBL GreenEdge units, just the regular Toyota head units (e.g. Touch & Touch 2) although the shots of the screen displays look just like a regular Touch etc..

Yup does look like they are quite different, so that's a no go I would think!

I agree the head units look identical, so I guess it's most likely the Speakers that are improved with the JBL option and maybe some additional watts in the head unit, but I could research that I guess.
