2004 Yaris 1.4 D4D wont start when hot.

I have recently bought a 2004 Yaris 1.4 D4D. It starts and runs well from cold (apart from a dip in revs about 10 seconds after starting.) but after a drive and engine is warmed up it will crank and crank but not start. I fitted a new fuel filter and checked the pre heater for dirt but was clean.

It is a fuel problem as I used some easy start when it was hot and not starting and it started. I had the codes read and p1272 was stored. I have read about SCV being problematic. If I unplug SCV and start when cold the revs do not dip. Tried to unplug when hot but still didn't start. There is voltage going to the SCV and I measured a resistance of 34 Ohms at the valve. I cannot find any data for what the resistance should be. I have removed the SCV and cleaned. Wasn't dirty/blocked. Put 9v to it and it opened/closed.

Has anyone had a problem like this or know the resistance for a good SCV and also any other way of testing.

Thanks

Between terminals it should be between 1.5 and 1.7 at 20 Celsius which is about correct in August

Thanks for the reply. I did see this post you suggested, it is for a Rav 4, would the readings be the same for the 1.4 D4D with only one valve?

I have a part number 0928 400 415. Any good sites for Toyota parts?

Thanks again.

I have checked the condition of conectors for fuel sensors and they are good.

I cant work out why it only affects the starting, there are no problems when engine running.

Could be an air leak in fuel filter - either filter not sealing properly or pipe connection. Next time when it fails to start try pumping the button on top of the filter to clear air. If it then starts , you have an air leak which forms an air bubble which  prevents fuel entering engine.
