Indicators don't work any more!

Today I was trying to wire in a rear facing camera to my dash camera. Experimentally I wedged the power wire for the camera in under the reverse light bulb just to check if it would work. I had disconnected the entire left side rear lights bulb cluster from the main loom connectors.

I reconnected everything and there was power to the camera but the reversing light did not work nor did the indicators and I got the Check Airbag warning on the dash. The indicators do work in hazard light mode.

HELP?!

have you checked the fuses for a blown one

All seem intact but now, after removing each one to check, one at a time, and replacing the car will not start. It does not even try to start. Headlights and hazard lights work but there is no power to start. The indicator light on the Start button does not come on, the remote locking does not work.

Maybe the car went into some kind of emergency mode thinking there was electrical fault and unlocked all doors so people could get out.

Maybe disconnect the Battery for 10 mins or so hoping it will clear out, just a thought.

Ok, so after taking it away to a local independent Toyota specialist who was totally stumped but whose diagnostics strongly suggested the immobiliser ECU was fried somehow, I talked with a technician at main Toyota dealer. Told him the whole story and he suggested that I check that I replaced every fuse in the right sockets after inspecting them. So I went to the garage and I and the mechanic did that and found I had replaced one fuse in the wrong slot and hey presto the car started!

However, I still don't have working indicators (though they work in Hazard mode) or reversing light! Local man has referred me to a local auto electrician. Car is home for the moment. WEIRD!

Got the same problem with no indicators, reverse light, airbag light and no heating. Did you every get this sorted?

Help!! I have the same thing. I took my car into a firm to have a new stereo and reverse camera installed. I got my car back with the indicators not working no heating controls and reverse light and an airbag warning light what is the solution?

Sounds like it might be a fuse as mentioned above, but if you just had it done, I reckon you should take it back to the firm that did the work and make them fix it

They checked all the fuses and they don't think it's a fuse.

Either way it shouldn't be your problem - I'm assuming this is a professional company that did it, and not some random bloke, so they need to rectify the problem. They can't just bodge in some new accessories and return the car to you not working properly!

If they can't fix it, they should foot the bill for e.g. your Toyota dealer fixing it.

If it's not a fuse then I have a feeling they've disconnected a CANbus cable somewhere and not plugged it back in, or they've used one directly instead of using a splitter cable.

In the end they got an auto electrician who fixed it and said it was a relay. He also said he does not recommend fitting a reverse camera to my model.

Just to update I had an expert auto electrician out and he fitted a reverse camera with the power coming from the reverse light and it's all working perfectly.
