Toyota Granvia towing capacity

Hi everyone 👋

I am wondering whether anyone can give me some information on this topic, seems to be hard to find.

I own a 1996 Toyota Granvia 3.0 Diesel (not 4wd) and I also own a 2 ton Capri caravan.

Can I tow the caravan with my Granvia? There does not seem to be any info on the vehicle itself (if I’m not looking in the right places please do enlighten me!)

Thanks in Advance for any help!

Don't know about your country of residence, but some countries have technical document which is used when selling/buying car, and recording any changes etc. It might have the details you need there.

If we check on here, and use hiace as reference, as they related, you can see towing capacity in case the caravan has it's own braking system is 1400 kgs for all models.

Seeing as yours is 2wd, i would not push my luck.

I'd have grave doubts tbh...It seems pretty clear that the tail would be wagging the dog.!

Wouldn't risk it myself tbh.

If my memory serves me well I think the safe towing weight is 85 percent of the unladen weight of the towing vehicle for a caravan. I think the Granvia is under 2 ton so to tow a caravan of 2  ton would be very unwise and could be dangerous.
