Tire speed ratings

Hey guys,

Sorry if this isn't the optimal place for this sort of topic.

Since winter is not far (at least here in eastern part of Europe) I'm already looking at winter tires. Found a set of BFGoodrich tires for a good price but was wondering about the speed rating.

The sticker on the door sill says that my car needs 205/55R16 91V but the tires I found have the load/speed rating of 91T. That's 240kmh of the V vs 190kmh of the T tire.

Now assuming that insurance company gives a green light on such issues and there won't be any problems mounting the tire in a reputable shop, is there any reason why going with the H-rated tires is a bad idea?

I'm never driving faster than 130kmh in summer so I won't come even close to that speed during winter, and overall it's an Avensis estate — I'm not exactly drag racing every day, so would the tires cause any safety issues? IIRC higher-rated tires have different rubber compounds and sidewall strengths so maybe Toyota specced the car with tire stiffness of a V rated tire and I might have problems with, say, sudden braking?

On the other hand there are more than enough guys on the internet saying it won't make a difference in daily driving conditions.

Would love to hear your opinion on this.

Tyre speed ratings are usually lower on winter tyres than summer tyres, and insurance companies should be aware of this.
