Gearbox Oil change 2011 Auris 1.33

Hello Guys

So I was going through the maintenance schedule of my Auris 1.33 and i could not find anywhere where it mentioned when should the Gearbox oil be changed.
I don't believe that the gearbox oil is filled for life and does not need to be changed, it makes no sense at all.

Has anyone here done their Gearbox oil change and when is the right time to do it?

I will be doing the 180 000km service today actually as the car is due which consists of the below:
1. Oil + Oil filter
2. Air Filter
3. Plugs (I have changed them last month as they done over 80 000km)
4. Brake pads (Will be checking life left front & rear)
5. Rear wiper (needs to be ordered from local dealership)
6. What can i use to lube the doors?

I and others use aerosol spray grease. Oil, I find, is too thin and just runs down the door edges and surround. There's also more of a risk of oil contaminating the rubber seals - not good for the rubber!

For my 2007 for manual gearbox it's said every 4 years or 40k miles, so maybe you can use it as a reference.

For the doors i used lithium grease, i heard the spray on stuff gets hard after some time.

The current 'Service & Warranty' booklets quote 4 years/40,000 miles for the gearbox oil change.

Not in my experience and I've used it for years. If anything it does just the opposite. 🙂
