Loss of power when hot

Hi I have recently brought a 2009 2.2 d4d when cold pulls like an absolute train but when it gets hot, it has loss of power like it is being starved.

I teach car mechanics and this is stumping me.

I have a snapon1 versus pro diagnostic platform.

No fault codes stored in the system live data looks good throughout the 25 Mike journey to work.

I replaced all the filters and cleaned out the EGR valve although it wasn't clogged.

Has any one came accross this fault before to give ideas as to where to go next with it.

Hello,

Maybe you can shed some more details about the issue, for example, is there black smoke from the exhaust when you try to accelerate? Are there any strange new sounds?

What kind of fuel have you been using?

Does the issue start occurring exactly when thermostat opens up?

Take note that it's possible to not clean the EGR properly (valve still sticking) or it's possible that the EGR valve is just dead and you need a new one.

No smoke at all it's possibly had egr/Air flow delete as I have no live data for them

Sounds like an intercooler issue, when the engine is cold air going into the engine is already cool, when the engine is warm the intercooler is not compensating for the warm engine compartment?

You could try timing an in gear acceleration time, for example 30-60 in 3rd gear, when the engine is cold and when the engine is hot, to see how much different there is.

Thank you forthe suggestion amateurtorque

30 to 60 when cold is a couple of seconds

30 to 60 when hot is a lot slower feels like starvation

Sometimes idles at 1000 when hot.

If it was intercooler surely it would smoke

Hi

Did you ever find a solution to the problem?

Hi as yet no suspect it may be the SCV valve which is suction control on the fuel pump just trying to cross reference the number from old valve is prooving difficult but where I work we have just taken an older model in with the dame valve so I m going to try it and see if it makes a difference.

Hi I find with my avensis when cold and with electrical loading on it idles around a 1000 rpm your temp sensors maf sensor etc all give the ecu the information needed for correct air/ fuel ratio ,if you have the equipment to read these sensor would help also the pressure readings for the dpf ,injector readings could be going into a limp mode
