Hi there, I am new to this forum, and I am hoping if someone could help with the situation.

So, I am planning to get a new Prius- here in the country, but recently I came across a new that says Toyota is planning to add Android Auto Support to its vehicle.   Source - https://telecompress.com/android-autp-toyota-car/

I want to know if it is coming anytime soon or Should I go ahead and book the vehicle and expect it to support Android Auto in Future? Any help is appreciated.

The link is to an American site. In the US Toyota use different head units to Europe.

I think the next generation Toyota Touch multimedia units may be introduced next year in cars like the new Corolla and Rav4, but whether that is accurate or when they may be fitted to the existing range, is open to question.

You can be pretty sure, as with all electronic gadget manufacturers, that unless the device ships with a given type of software, they will not support it in the future for that device. The current Entune / Touch Go 2 head units are VERY under-speced in terms of their processing power, memory, storage, etc. They're designed to be the cheapest and absolute minimum to barely run the custom software built for that specific hardware by Toyota without too many people complaining about how slow they are. The signalling used between the head unit and the rest of the car (e.g. for power train information, fuel economy, car settings, sending sat nav directions to the dash screen, reversing lines/camera, and so on, are unlikely to all be standard protocols and connections, and hence not compatible with Android Auto.

If you absolutely want Android Auto, you will either have to replace the head unit in the car you buy, or wait (probably a year or five ) until Toyota release a head unit in the Prius with Android Auto.
