Yaris 1.33 Central Locking Fault

My wife has a 2014 1.33 petrol Yaris.

Today she told me the Central Locking wasn't working. I tried with her key and it wouldn't open or close. I tried with the spare key, same thing. I changed batteries in both keys, same issue.

I then found when stood right next to the car, the key worked intermittently, however I literally had to be in touching distance or inside the car for it to work.

Any ideas please as to the problem please?  Thanks

Could be external interference - something disrupting the signal from the key to the car by operating on the same frequency. Could include a neighbours wireless doorbell or router, National Grid transmissions, emergency services radio equipment, etc.

Have you tried the car in a different location?

I think you may be right, the next day it worked as normal, we have had road works nearby where they are playing with local electrics, possibly they were using something that caused the issue. Thank you for taking the time to reply. 😁😁😁
