All the towns in the Borders have there own "Gala Day" type day. It's all called the common riding.

Obviously ours is called Gala Day because I live in Galashiels.

Not too sure what it's all about tbh mate. Something to do with events years ago with the english coming over the border or trying to or something.

They have lots of ceremonies, ride outs etc. The shows are here for 3 days and everyone gets really drunk for a few days.

Do a search on the net tho mate.. bound to find heaps of info about it.

I moved here when I was 10 and I've never really known what it was all about.
