yep its true!

was chatting to one of the chaps from Fensport (sorry cant remember who it was) at !Removed! about engine conversions for the Yaris in which i was informed there is a Vitz 4WD! unfortunately only rumoured to be running the 1.0l engine.

had a search on t'net but not found anything that we can read!

but heres a bit of proof, it looks very similar to the normal Vitz but has a huge stupid looking front grille!

Clicky

heres a japanese scrappy with some in (look for Vitz 4WD)

Clicky

technically no

i was also chatting about that and the 3sgte will be literally a nightmare to fit due to the ECU

you will actually need two of them (thats how the fensport corolla works) one for the engine and one for the rest of the cars controls, and then youve somehow got to tie the two together to work with each other

the best bet is to use the celica corolla t-sport engine as its all to do with the fact that toyotas engines took a major redesign a few years back and old principles do not work very well with new principles :(

HI folks,

The engine is actually a 1.3, as you can see here. I think the chrome grille only comes on the higer spec ones...

I've discovered that you can navigate the Toyota Japan by rolling over the various buttons and reading what comes up in the status bar at the bottom of the screen! Got to get out more...

If I could have a 4wd version of mine then, trust me, I would!

Cheers,

A

It always amazes me how many newish cars are in japanese scrap yards!

I work for a japanese company and we have around 50 japanese staff. A few of these are into motorsport and one of them was telling me he picked up all his scooby STi bits from his local scrappy. He only paid £100 for a full STI Recaro interior!!!!

Just because it'd not IMHO be worth it in any other engine than the 1.5 or maybe the 1.3 as the weight might negate the extra grip?

Although cornering might b improved it depends on the bias also!!

Nice idea and gives AMAZING tuning potential!!

Kerb weight 980 kg 2161 lb

Anyone know if that's any different to stock and if it is what do you think they'll have removed?

1000 / 2205.00

Taken from toyota.co.uk - so its actaully lighter as well!!

i'm sure the FF Yaris is not that heavy, it was mentioned before that the YTS was something like 950kg

hmm, so there's no difference between the FF and 4wd version of the 1.3.... <_<

Spratty managed to get 120 bhp from the 1.3 i think, and thats without forced induction, if u add a turbo on, take the rear seats out and cut the weight and with 4wd...:drool:

Many Toyota models sold in Japan come with the option for 2WD or 4WD, including the Corolla and the Avensis. Just like most models are sold with auto gearboxes.

Weight for the 4WD model is between 970-1010 kg depending on trim level and choice of manual or auto gearbox.

Cheers, Yves.
