Hi Guys

2005 1.4 Corolla has developed a squeaky clutch, thought at first it was the pedal but its definitely under the bonnet tried some WD40 where the arm meets the hydraulic plunger from the slave cylinder  but still there, anybody had or got this problem? as I see it maybe be the fingers on the clutch plate or an easy fix would be the slave cylinder itself.

Would welcome any input.

Hi,

Yes , it been covered my times before in the forum and the most likely cause is where the clutch pedals plunger goes into the master cylinder and or the metal fittings of the actual clutch pedal.

Usually some wd40  etc on the metal work will cure it, but for the plunger best to use some rubber safe lub like red grease etc, get it right down inside and give it a day or so the work in and cure the squeak.

If its not that, then as you have already done the slaves output pin to the release folk,  if its still there and in the engine bay its possibly the clutch itself or the folks pivots which means gearbox out/ new clutch.

I had this problem even after I renewed the clutch master and slave cylinder and greased up the pivot points, new pedal bush etc

On mine it was iirc the clevis pin on the pedal, Took several attempts to cure

I recommend spray grease, WD40 imho will be very temporary fix

Take a look at the inner back plate at the bulk head inside the car. If there is a bolt(s) loosening on this plate behind the pedals it will cause the clutch pedal to be out of alignment to create a squeak as the plunger goes back and forth. Have seen this one and some locktite on the thread before tightening up the bolt resolved it.
