Petrol smells

Hi.  Does anyone have any idea way I would be getting regular smells of petrol in the car cabin? The smell is it only lasts about 15 to 30 seconds and the car has had several visual safety checks recently underneath. It’s very annoying. I worry when I smell petrol in my car is about to burst into flames with me and my children in it. I went to the garage with it months ago and they said they could not smell it or see that’s there was anything wrong. It has happened a few more times recently. It went away for a few months but now it’s back again.

When doing a cold start, car runs lean, if you turn the blower on to use outside air, it's quite possible you will smell petrol, but it's from exhaust only.

Thanks furtula. Have just done about 15 miles round Nottingham - Tesco visit etc.  Car is warm.  Happened 4 times including at the end of the round trip.....  just weird.  

The heater was on...but only low at the end.
