My Mr2 Is Now Booked In For Rull Repray..

My auntie's pimp mobile Merc is in the bodyshop getting a full re-spray in candy Apple red, I asked her how much and she said £700. Didnt believe her so I went up today to have a look and she wasnt kidding.

The chap seems sound, had a good look round my car, told him I wanted it a toally different colour and he quoted me £600.

I asked him why he is so cheap, he said its becasue he isnt a rip off and he doesnt advertise, word of mouth is how he gets work. He aslo said he wouldnt let me have the car back until he was happy with it as it would taint his name.

He is booked up till October the 4th (thats when mine goes in) so he can't be rubbish?

I asked about the procedure and he says he doesnt rub it all the way back to the metal but used 2pack primer or something. He says the paint will last and not peel off or anything.

My auntie gets her Merc back on tuesday so I'm gonna have a look at his work.

Does this sound too cheap?

It does sound cheap but you will soon no if its cheap due to the finish of your aunties!

Does that include all the doorshuts etc!?

yes.. includes door shuts... all I need to do is give him a paint code.

He says that people that charge £1500 dont really want the work.

Just have to wait and see my aunties Merc, he also says there is no need to take the skirts and Border nose off when he paints it.

I priced up the candy Apple red only 6 week's ago as i nearly went for it instead of my gemini flashback paint

I had my Rolla re-sprayed a few years ago for £500 cash to a mate who owns his own accident repair centre. It should have cost me £1000.

In conclusion, that's cheap. See what your aunts looks like and take it from there.

Usually with resprays you get what you pay for, and you only find that out about 6 months after its done..hopefully this guy is sound! What colour you goin for jappy?

Not telling what colour I'm going for.. its pretty mad looking and lets say, it wont be missed when driving down the road!

last quote i got was £1100 plus VAT and that was just for a blow over not a respray.

does the quote include, the 2 pack primer, top coat and lacker or it just for the 2 pack

old fella near me charges about the same and says the same - word of mouth etc., and u can tell he is just a really skilled old skool fella who loves painting.

he did a repair job on my last car and it was faultless.
