sounds to cheap to be true to me......i hope not obv..but ive worked in a bodyshop and i have a fiar idea of how much time painting and prepping a car take..and you do get what you pay for in moost cases..but thats MOST cases.....there are of course exceptions to the rule......

So I saw my auntie and uncle whos Merc is in at the moment. They are getting it back on tuesday and I'm going up to look at on Saturday. They listed at least 6 other cars including a Mk2 escort that he did for them.. they assure me that he is good.

Oh and its not a blow over either as my car is going a different colour.

I got the Supra going into the garage next week for a little cleaning up before JAE and i asked him how much it would cost for a respray and he wanted £2000!!!!

Sorry to drag this one up again chaps but I went to see the Merc today and the job is fantastic.. I cant believe it, all for £600

They decided against the candy Apple in the end and settled for this bronze that has a light flip that glows in the sun.

The Merc used to be a bright pink/red and you would never be able to tell.

All it needs is a polish in 2 weeks my uncle says.

I'm not kidding.. the colour is so deep. I could not fault the job at all. Just have to wait to see what mine will be like.

Jappy, there are a few of us who would be interested in getting the bodyshops info mate.

Not saying he's gonna do a bad job or anything. I still will be getting it done there. Just hope it's better quality than my current respray.

PS : you still owe me money for the centre panel !!!

I KNOW!! I keep forgetting to remind you!

You didnt remind me last time I was up either.. it was on the drive back I remembered. I'm up again in August so I'll clear you then. Or pay you at JAE.

Yeah.. it seems he has done a fantastic job. If my effort is poor then you can all point at me and then no go with this guy.

Sounds a bit like the place I go for work at Barwell Bodyworks :)

To be perfectly honest the places that charge £1500+ for complete resprays basically rip people off, unless they take it back to the metal which in most cases they do not unless you ask for it.

When companies quote you on paint per litre that can be in the region of £500+ is complete :censor: and the actual cost to them is far cheaper, the bigger the company and it's trading history will also get better trading discounts.

I had my previous Micra re-sprayed for £500 in a pearlesant blue / white and it was lovely and the job was spot on, my corolla will also be having similar treatment by Steve at Barwell, once the kit is fitted at the end of July.

Also any dramatic flip paint or custom colour doesn't need the paint rubbed down the metal, a base coat of matt black will enable the colour to take perfectly.

Don't want to step on your toes, this is an example of his latest work done for a friend in MSC. Done for a £1,000 using a rage paint, can't remember which one.
