More and more manufactures have the HIR2 bulb in stock, and not just Toyota.

Any experiense how Toyotas bulbs compare against other manufactures? There's also a budget bulb, Lumro super bright, sold online at half the price.

'Budget' often means low quality, but some times one can get surpriced.

Depends whether you're looking at standard HIR2 bulbs or upgrade HIR2 bulbs.

in the UK, Toyota HIR2 bulbs, whether standard or upgrade (Optiwhite +60%), are both currently Philips bulbs. PIAA and Osram offer upgrade bulbs (+120% or +20% respectively). MTEC also have upgrades available. Upgrade bulbs under the Philips brand don't seem to be available.

The Toyota Optiwhite bulbs have been the subject of a few topics previously - eg.

Haven't seen any European tests comparing the performance of these bulbs.

I've just ordered a set of bulbs from PIAA. I have Optiwhite in my Auris, but our Aygo still runs with standard bulbs

niels are the optiwhite bulbs any good i know they are 60% brighter

but with the headlights being so awful does the +60% make the headlights

just acceptable or are they now good and can be used as toyota intended

as headlights.

I have them fitted to  my 2015  Auris they are noticeably much better than the standard bulbs but the lights on my MK 1 Auris were still better  ( 4 bulbs set up)
