T22 2.0 d4d power loss (year 2000)

Hi Everyone

I bought my "mighty eggplant" as I call it due to it's color 9 years ago, and things have been running smoothly.

However last summer it started to lose power occasionally, and the engine light turns on. After killing the engine and restart it again, engine light turns off, car seems to be ok, until suddenly starts loosing power again and engine light turns on.

I took it to the mechanic, and computer said it was either a bad mass air flow meter, or a dirty injector.... I've bought a new mass air flow meter, and as the car kept exacly the same, I end up buying those diesel system cleaners that you add to the tank and it seemed to do the trick... for 5 months...

Now it's back to the same.

I'm avoiding cleaning injectors, as I already paid for a new mass air flow meter for nothing, thus I wonder if anyone has had the same problem and what was the solution.

"Funny thing" is that after loossing power, sometimes after a couple of km it gains power again, you can real feel the diference, but after a while power goes away again...

I don't understand why power goes and comes and goes, like if the car was having either a good or a bad mood... also I think if it was the dirty injector, it would always be missing power, correct?

Many Many thanks for your time / help

Cheers from Portugal

Fuel Filter clogging ? poor fuel quality ? EGR need cleaning ? air filter clogged ?

Try Millers or Diesel Magic additive
