Fitting cruise control t27

Hi new here! Hello all We currently have a 2009 T27 1.8 cvt estate it doesn’t have cruise control fitted so bought the cruise control stalk and have fitted, removed airbag etc. Watching various videos etc I assumed it would be plug and play as it surly would be in the cars Ecu ! Could it be a faulty stalk or am I hoping for the impossible!?!? Many thanks in advance
