Avensis 2.2 d4d battery sensor

Hello toyota members do any of you know what this sensor is as its come off the positive Battery post and now the alternator wont charge the Battery .

A quick search of the part number and eBay offered me these for £30 to £40-ish. : 2885028010 Genuine Toyota SENSOR ASSY, Battery CURRENT 28850-28010

It looks like what is known as an IBS monitor.

 If dissconnected would you think this would cause alternator to not charge Battery ?

You would need to know the ins and outs of how its configured and exactly how the ECU uses the data it provides but yes, it is possible because without the sensor the ECU will be missing information related to Battery voltage and current draw and so may default to placing the alternator in a low output state.
