If anyone has a series one 1.3 petrol automatic Yaris, could they post up what rpm the engine does at 70mph?

As far as I can tell from the strange green analogue tachometer mine does 3100 rpm at 70mph on the speedo. However the road noise is pretty intrusive at 70 and 60 is a more relaxed cruising speed!

Check your tyre's spec(various online sites available) and when ready to replace choose ones with lower decibels. Out of interest what tyres are fitted to your car.

Thanks sproutdreamer - does yours have a 1.3 engine? Is the auto a CVT like the newer cars that revs hard (noisy) under acceleration?

Also, what sort of mpg do you get from it?

Yes an 04 1.3 T Spirit. Overall MPG is hard tp say as we only use this as a town/shopping car and prefer the Avensis for longer trips. Average about 32 urban mpg on the Yaris with the MMT auto box which has been fine but still only 47K miles.
