Petrol filter replacement

Hello,

After my car almost ran out of petrol, it became jerky when accelerating. I guess dirt from the bottom of the petrol tank got into the the system. I am thinking of replacing the petrol filter - does anyone know where it is located?

Car is a Avenis Verso 2.0 petro engine from 2005

Thanks!

The fuel pump filter is located within the fuel pump, in the the fuel tank. Access is normally under the rear seat.

When dealing with getting into the fuel tank, make sure you have the car doors open, and be away from any possible sources of ignition, like smokers. Have a fire extinguisher handy!

I have never replaced a fuel filter on the Avensis, though my Mk3 T27 was in for a suction pump recall recently.

There is a good chance your car was so low on fuel, that the movement sloshed the fuel away from the pump, starving the it. This would leave air in the system until the fuel was pumped through after filling up. Once the pressure is restored the car should run fine, unless as you suspect the filter is partially blocked, and the car still misfires on acceleration.
