So sense to put a new clutch in with the new engine, but what do i want? I have no money, but its a have too as it'd kill me if a month after getting the car the clutch started slipping.

Toyota ones i gather are £200 and uprated seem to start at £300 but which is best, i want one that'll last.

Ditto,

I need to know a decent value for money clutch that will handle about 400bhp max.

Oh and how much are they for fitting...ish.(how many hours?)

Millway told me to get a clutch now (engine out of car) as one hour fitting, but if i left it and needed one at a later stage 6 to 8 hours on the tubby depending on bolts etc £35 x 8 = TOO much!

A mate of mine suspected a dodgy clutch and a Roaling Road event prooved it :D

I advised him to go to my Toyota Specialist to get the parts and labour done. He was quoted £330 odd for the lot. This was with a Blue Print (OEM equivalent) clutch supplied.

In the end he sourced an uprated clutch and still got my mechanic to fit it.

Labour cost £170 odd for 8 hours labour. I spoke to my mechanic yesterday who said it should have been a lot quicker, but a number of bolts had completely seized and that it took him over an hour to get the starter motor out as a result :!Removed!: He was not impressed! :D

The guy (Richard) is an ex MrT mechanic and offers a much better service than MrT

I have an Exeny Organic Racing Clutch.... very good clutch. No chance of this baby slipping anytime soon.

If you plan to up the power etc of the car, I would advise going uprated clutch route.

that would make it a ceramic one tho,.. that may explain jimsgrabbyness of his?? i was hoping to avoid these for organic because the web tells me they wear out faster than organic and they ahve less friendly action, chatter etc..?? mind good price cheaper than the fensport options and look to be better.

What's the deal with how your gonna drive it the most?? is it a daily driver?? with ocassional drags...or mostly for drags?? I'd say no to a heavy duty unless you use the car purely for drags mostly. Heavy duty just takes the fun out of normal driving.

I took about 8 weeks to get a clutch. Mainly because fensport took ages. I then cancelled and went with dpmotorsports.

I have the Exedy Organic single plate racing clutch. It is VERY graby, but this baby isn't gona slip for no mans land.

Organic wears less once it starts to slip compared with ceramatilc clutches

From an enjoyment point of view yeah...and Im pretty sure the stock one in good condition is good upto about 300 from memory, however from the description you give of what you will be using the car for etc it might be a good idea. If you were doing some daily driving I'd say stocker for sure but as it's mostly for fun then yeah...but not crazy heavy duty, something mild...not hard out on and off etc

The flywheel makes less torque, but makes you accelerate quicker (no - I don't know either)

The whole thing was about £600 I think .. then a few hours at Millway for fitting.

The Stage 3 is 180% over stock or something .. I think it's up to 500bhp ..

Guys,

Just got a SPEC stage 3 6-puck from www.funkyproduct.co.uk for £250!! + a Fidanza flywheel. They haven't got them on the website (only ACT) but PHONE up and speak to Chris and say "like the one you sold to Adam(me) and Ben Gibbs(off imoc)".

These clutches are rated to 490ft/lbs so they can take a beating. The Yanks swear by these, they are proven. Better than clutchmasters/ACT/RPS. Alot of the big power boys out there are using them for everyday and many hard launches. Just go on www.mr2oc.com and do a search for spec clutch stage 2 (kevlar disc 420ft/lbs) or stage 3. It is also said to have the driveability of stock or slightly over. So no aching left leg!

Oh and at £250 delivered direct from the US (funkys' supplier is there) is cheaper than arranging it yourself. (import duties etc)

Do yourself a favour and get one of these...
