rear pads stuck to discs, after washing car the previous day..

As the title says, my rear brake pads were stuck to the discs, even though the EPB had released normally. For a few minutes I was puzzled as I kpet engaging and releasing the EPB, hearing it working as normal, and the parking brake light confirming it was engaged or released. Then I realised that the pads could be stuck, as I was the car yesterday, but did not drive it! :bangin:

So I put the car in gear and moved forward. The pads released with a thump from both wheels. After a few yards with a few applications, the brakes were back to normal.

This was the first wash I had given the car in over a month, and the wheels had a lot of brake dust. I use a hose to rinse the wheels after using a wheel brush, a sponge and old toothbrush to loosen and remove the dust.
The discs normally get rusty after a wash, but never to stick to the pads. At least it was not an EPB failure. 😱

So I need to remember to drive the car after washing it, to dry the brakes of water.

Hi, that’s mean something else too. The pads will stuck to the discs after car wash especially when you have sliding pins dried out, I will recommend you to get them clean and lubricate with fresh silicone grease, you can do so on front too as a periodic maintenance on your brakes along with fresh brake fluid. Just done mine and I don’t get that sticky pads after wash anymore and the car stops better too.

Regards
