Removed fuse but windows still work?

The fuse for the windscreen wipers blew in my car so I used the fuse for the left electric window to replace the blown fuse. However, the electric window still works? Can anyone explain why?

You must also determine why the fuse blew in the first place. It's blown for a reason. If the cause is not rectified then the symptom will continue.

BIL had a wiper fuse blow on a Volvo when visiting me for the day. Had a look around and even put an ammeter in the circuit, it was drawing more current than the fuse rating. Didn't have access to a wiring diagram and left the engine running for a good ten minutes without any indication of a problem. As it was raining, put a higher rated fuse in with a warning to get it checked out when he got home - of course he didn't!

The next cold morning, the partial short circuit in the driver's seat burnt a hole in the seat, trouser and bum. Doing 70MPH on a dual carriageway meant he couldn't stand up.
