Okay I've got a dilemma!

I have a wee 1 litre 5 door with the mods listed below! I'm now thinkin i want 2 pay it off early and got 4 a T-Sport but I dunno!

Pro's (of a T-Sport): Faster, more luxury (air-con, leather steerin wheel etc), more mods available and better lookin!

Con's: More likely 2 kill myself, costs more 2 run and costs alot 2 buy!

So gimme a help and tell me if i should keep the 1 litre (and do it up 2 the maximum) or not (and get a TS)? I should really have ran a poll but i'm more interested in people's opinions and not just a straight yes no!

Cheers

Ok, I'll try to help.

My opinion is, each car has a purpose. Even If you mod it and turn it upside down and do all kinds of stuff, a car will always remain as a car with a purpose, the same purpose.

The Yaris, in general was conceived as a compact, modern and economic car. There are 3 engines designed for the Yaris, 1.0, 1.3 and 1.5 (don't really know if there are more).

OK! You choose Yaris. By saying this, we are asuming you want a cool looking car, reliable and economic, just because of it being a Yaris, which has all the features I just said. You own a 1.0 litre, with 5 doors. 5 doors usually means more versatility and if you add the fact of a 1 litre engine, all together says "econo car, very much". Its a very cool combo, I mean, to have a really good (if not the best) fuel economy AND the ability to transport more people if u need.

Now, saying that, the fact of MODDING such a car, to me makes no real sense, unless its all audio/video mods. Performance mods on this car will mean... almost 0 hp's (if u choose CAI or muffler) and perhaps a very little feel of the road with a sporty suspension, I say little because though it may seem very "speedy", a 1.0 is a slow car, and I mean, theres no need to waste money to try and feel the road taking a rough corner if your car goes suffering at 100km/h... come on, we all know this. The 1.0 Yaris is TOTALLY a functional vehicle, not a recreational one, and so it will be like this, even if you add a turbo (if there is one), we are talking of what, 10hp's? 20? so at the end... you have under 80 hp's alltogether? Not worth it.

The 1.5 engine is the biggest of the Yaris family, to me is the greatest. It has almost the same power as a 1.6 VVT-i engine (1.5 has 108hp while 1.6 has 110hp) and it has a better mpg than the 1.6 of course. Talking specifically about the "T-sport" or RS (Vitz), we have ourselves a 3 door hatchback with a weight under 900 kg (I think its 860 kg) with a 1.5 engine pushing 108 hp's. The T-sport was conceived as the sporty version of the already economic and versatile Yaris, designed to handle more power for such a small car, to have more detail attention (air conditioning, etc, you mentioned it already) and overall, to look sporty. We are talking about a car that, having a bigger engine, can handle more modifications with a much better response than the 1 litre. For example, a turbo on this car can easily give you 150 hp's, and now thats a lot of power. Suspension upgrades now do have a real effect on this, and finally, you have a recreational vehicle, yet, functional. By choosing this car, it means you agree to the fact that it has 2 doors so people riding at the back will have to pass through these doors and lift your seat and all. Versatility gets a bit compromise in the passenger-friendly areas. Looks much better and feels much better even if not modded.

My advice is, ask yourself a question, what do you want from you car? Power? Versatility? Performance? Dont forget that even if we are talking about a 1.5 engine or a 1.0 engine, its still an econo car and still not a "sports car" (say, a Starlet GT Turbo, Peugeot 206 RC or Honda Civic SIR, or even a Corolla TS) BUT, it comes to the point when you have to pick a path, if you plan to invest on the 1.0 on performance mods, then you will be wasting money, a silly loss. If you choose more versatility and don't mind not having many "luxury" thingies, then the 1.0 is a perfect choice.

Its kinda simple...

You wont get the same performance on a 1.0 litre as the performance specs u get on a T sport.

You want sporty, mod-effective and faster? Then go T-sport, BUT please, don't go try to change the rules or try to make your 1.0 into a 1.5, it will never happen, no matter how much you spend.

Hope this helped.

Cheers!

quick answer..............yes (t-sport)

your half way to a modded car with the t-sport, hence bodykit, alloy wheels, sports seats, bigger engine and so on

personally i see the 1.0 as the car that is done up in amazing ways on the styling front as once youve done that its not as if your going to be blasting round back roads and it hasnt terribly got the equipment to do so

but the t-sport is the sort of car thats modified with performance in mind as there is already a solid state of that in the first place, plus with the added bonus of the different bumpers, yadda yadda

T-Sport!

If you already love the Yaris, you will REALLY love the T-Sport.

It’s the best car I have ever had.

Regards the 3 (although 5 doors are available on the YTS) doors and rear space, I don’t sit there! I always sit in the front.

Do it!

Con's: More likely 2 kill myself, costs more 2 run and costs alot 2 buy!

No offence to anyone on here with a T-sport, but it is a only a 1.5, and as quick and nippy as it is, it aint exactly a dodge viper is it? So if i was you, scratch the likely to kill you... and for the same reasons, cost a lot to run...

So really the only con you have is the price of the car... so can you afford a T-Sport?

T sport mate

ull love it, powerfull machine so jst respect her and she will treat u well, i chnaged from the 1 ltr and havnt looked back since, you can only go so far with a 1 ltr

Go on dude, ya know u want to, + if u think about it, the t sport will last u a lot longer than the 1 ltr will

I'd get yourself a T-Sport if you can.

The only real downside is the purchase cost. I wouldn't worry about the running costs. Insurance is still reasonably sensible at group 7/8, and the fuel economy isn't too bad at all.

The other advantage of the T-sport is it would probably be easier to sell on for more than a 1.0 with lots of modifications when you decide you want to move on.

I have a 1.3.... better performance than the 1.0 but not quite as sporty as the TSport.... if I had the money I would probably go for the 5 door TSport....but then again I am emotionally attached to Yaz ;) hehe

Get the TS! If you can afford that is - you don't want to have that nice car and not be able to do anything to it!

Pity I can't make the Scottish meet on the 11th - I could have taken you for a drive in my TS to convince you! :D It's your favourite colour as well (metallic black) :D

TSPORT!!! get a 3dr tho, they look better in my holy important opnion :D :P

Excellent choice sir! My thoughts exactly. I can live without the praticality of 5 doors for the 3 door looks.

wel ryan this should make you decide i'm sellin my 1 litre at the moment and i AM gettin a t-sport, 3dr in chlli red prob be an 02 reg, it is betta because it has air con electric evrythink, ABS, EBD, i think that the t-sport is like jaxx says its halfway there for starters i mainly want one for abit more poke an ABS, and if ur gettin phase 1 it wil only come in a 3dr anyway

hmmm... the only thing I can see between the 1.3CDX and the TSport is the engine size / performance... I already have air con.. ABS... all those shennanigans ;) and I am upgrading the ICE, and exterior slowly...

*will stick with my 1.3.. love her too much...

But I say if you are choosing between the 1.0 and the TSport... TS wins hands down

Points taken on board there Fidgits but i have only ever driven 3 cars in my lifetime, my yaris, a fiesta (:!Removed!:) and a Vovlo C70 T5 so 2 me the T-Sport would be very fast!

Financially, i honestly dunno if i could afford it, i have a car ready 2 trade just now, my 1 litre which i could possibly get £4000 if i return it 2 standard and i only have a part-time job as i go 2 uni at the moment so i dunno!

I think I know wot i mite do, keep my 1 litre and do it up 2 the maximum except engine mods apart from induction kit and exhaust and then wen i get a real job keep my Yaris 4 a show car and then buy a new everyday car, I'm talkin about 3-4 years in the future tho, I reckon my 1 litre does everything i want it 2 do 4 now apart from get me 2 a location fast!

Cheers 4 all the input anyway

Considering a T Sport myself within the next year. Depends a lot on what Durbans and many others have said but it all comes down to cost in the end, doesn't it?

T Sport is a beaut though!

Yeah I used to think that but I'm warming towards them. You still get the trick trip computer showing mpg, av. mph, etc anyway, don't you?

I much prefer the digital display... but then again thats prolly cause I think the white looks tacky (*hides.. plz dont shoot me!) .. Cause my boyfriend drives a 10 year old Escort with white dials (its the sports version.. spoiler etc)...I like the fact the digital dash looks different... they should make it an option on the Tsport.... yeah... with choice of colours... Red, Blue, Green :P

I myself would have blue... of course :P
