2008 D4D Smoky!

Hello

For the past few months my RAV4 has been a bit smoky. I thought it might be the engine oil so I had it changed a couple of times but no. When I put the foot down on the motorway or going uphill (we live in a very hilly place) I can see smoke, even in the daytime. At night, of course I can see a lot more because of the lights of cars behind who I'm leaving in a cloud of smoke! It's not black smoke, more brown, I'd say. I don't like it though and wonder if I need an additive or there's something up. Also she seems a bit sluggish as well. A bit of power missing in the lower range which shouldn't be. She's regularly serviced and well looked after, although 11 years old though with 120k on the clock.

Any input would be very helpful, thanks

Are you using fully synthetic C3 oil if your engine is using a bit of oil the C3 fully synthetic doesn't generally smoke if a bit is getting past valve guides/oil scrapper rings, and have you tried blanking off your EGR valve search this forum for just that, when it's blanked you can boot it and no smoke...

Do you need to update your profile to include the Rav4.
