Rav 4.2 led bulbs upgrades

Do I need to buy the Canbus error free style Led bulbs?

Or just any old LED light?

Car bulbs must be "E" marked to be road legal so it's not just a case of "any old LED". In reality, however, a non-approved LED won't result in an MOT failure because the test doesn't check for type approval issues.  Canbus bulbs are only required on vehicles that have a system to check and warn of a bulb failure.

I know about E marking etc. I'm not going to do the head lights only really want to do the reverse bulbs.

So Do the MK2 Rav4 have a Canbus type warning system? [emoji23]

No - this model doesn't have a warning system. It might be useful to include the year of your Rav in your ownership list.

If not, then the Year is not really required.

The question was clearly about the Mk2 Rav4 (aka Rav 4.2)
So if none of the Mk2 have the Canbus system job done.
