Central locking not working-ignition barrel ‘ticking’?

After a 65 mile commute, I turned off the ignition on my 55 plate petrol XT4 yesterday and as soon as the key got to the 1st click back the  ignition area started to tick, a bit like an oven timer sound? This carried on when I removed the key and only stopped when the key is  reinserted and turned. Also, the lock/unlock buttons on the fob appear to be disabled, as is the one on the driver’s door armrest. I can still lock the doors with the key manually, but the ticking persists until the key is reinserted. As a precaution, I had the fob Battery changed, but no difference. The car is driving fine.  Help!!

Try resetting the system by disconnecting the car Battery for say 10 minutes.

Thanks Ian, I will try that tomorrow when I get the car home. Will let you know how I get on!

Thank you ever so much! It stopped the ticking and both the key fob and the central locking switch work again!

Who’da thought it... Thank you for taking the time to suggest it; saved me a trip to the garage.😘
