t22 Avensis gear knob & gaiter

Hello. Gear gaiter is so dirty/used that i am changing it. Where that is going in right way? Old doesn't remove in good way, so i used carpet knife to removing it. Do i need to remove center console to fits it perfectly? Also the ring and little spiral at gear gaiter, how i put them in right way?
