had erg fitted after car went into limp mode and maintenance light came on.got car back but maintenance light came back on car not in limp mode but engine lumpy.

Do you mean EGR, and if so why specifically was a new one fitted rather than the existing one cleaned? Have you looked at the manual to establish the normal reason the maintenance light comes on at be?

Yes sorry it was EGR ,was fitted at garage waiting for them to get back to me ,will ask them probobly easier to fit new one than clean it they dont have to pay for it .thought there might be easy solution,there never is .thanks

Maintenance light is generally illuminated because it needs servicing, but again, check the manual. The EGR should only open under certain conditions to allow exhaust gas to be fed back (recirculated) into the combustion cycle, if for example it’s stuck open (highly unlikely as it defaults to shut), the engine would run badly when cold. Short answer is unless you are able/willing to investigate we won’t know and even if you were, the garage who carried out the work needs to investigate it.

Yes Alex but had to take car to main dealers in the end and they found that the new EGR vaulve that was fitted by other garage was giving out wrong voltage and was not genuine toyota part .New egr fitted every thing ok,not the end of story as asked main dealer garage for old egr vaulve as original garage said they would send it back and return my money,main dealer wanted to charge me £70 extra for my old egr vaulve ,what a rip off,so ended up paying twice.
