Thanks, any info I'm seeing is regarding younger models, 2016 seems to be a game changer and more difficult to trace

Not sure that they changed anything re. the maintenance of the mechanics of the braking system over the T27s life (2009-2018). Have you had a look on https://www.toyota-tech.eu/Menu/Repair? It will cost you €3 for an hour's access & material should be downloadable.

You will need a tool to wind back the pistons.

For Avensis from 2012 onward, the auto engage can be turned off - service mode if you like. My earlier 2009 car is only auto release with manual engage.
I have am sure the Owner's manual covers this. Look at this video -

I will check my other laptop to see if I can find the instructions from the later Avensis owner's manual.

Further to my previous reply, I found the instructions on how to disable auto engage.

The rest of the procedure is the same for all Avensis T27 as per my post -

In case you don't read all the info, you need a piston wind back kit that is left and right handed. The slots in the piston should be horizontal when wound back, to aid assembly, because the two pins protruding from the back of the brake pads sit in those slots. Get it wrong and the brakes will wear prematurely at odd angle, especially for the inner pads!

You should not need to calibrate the EPB, and if you do, use the correct electronic tool that actual calibrate, not reset! I made the mistake of using the wrong device that actually deleted the zero point settings, throwing cautions and warnings, and message 'Check parking brake'. You have been warned!

Follow the info given, and you will be fine.
