estima 2.4

hi every body,new here.so please bear with me,i have had 8 seater for about 10 years,have done the time sert thing ,but had a prob with the crank changed that then started smoking,put new stem seals in ,still same now its started rattling,and more  smoke than a steam train,,lol.dont want to scrap it.so getting a engine is going to be more than car worth,so,,,if i put a 2 ltr engine in out of a rav 4,will this work and run.my mate has one ,back end smash.can have it v cheap,but need to know if it will run,looked at 2.4 and a 2 .0 look same .help...
