Avensis Face-lift, or Major overhaul

I'm going to replace my 2009 Avensis with a newer model with less milage. But I'm having difficulties which one to choose. It's either the 2012-2015 Facelift model, which is almost similar to mine, or the latest model 2015-2018.
So I wonder if someone here have owned both types and can tell me if the latest model is superior to the older one. Or is the difference (driving, comfort ,noise...)  neglible and just cosmetic so I should save the money and go for the older.

which engine/trim are you  thinking of? I had a 2012 2.2. T Spirit & now have a 2017 1.8

Almost all Avensis sold in Norway are the 1.8 petrol with the automatic. Same as in my current Avensis which i think is a good combination.
