Dilemma!

being quite happy with insuring the yaris for about 500quid this year i did my little 'enquiry' into different cars whilst on the phone to the chap on the other end

much to my suprise i can insure an MR2 Turbo for £650 full comp! and a supra TT albeit an auto for £825 ish, with the manual being just over £900!.........fully comp!

so now the gears are grinding in my head!

so do i rag up with the yaris and go for somat else or what! elanor has also recieved a few enquirys on the possible sale already so this is making me tick even more!

yaris -

pros - cheapish to run, all ready a good going project, already winning prizes, bit of a dark horse 'stands out a bit'

cons - it is VERY expensive for what it is, its no performance car (seriously!)

MR2 -

pros - beautiful thing, perfect setup (Mid-Rear), requires very little to make it respectable, it looks like a sports car, it goes like a sports car! alot cheaper in respect to the yaris! modding is a tad more easier

cons - good ones are a tad rare??? more expensive to run. ill probably die!

Supra -

pros - Its a supra! twin turbos (count them!), 300 somat bhp! totally drop dead gorgeous to look at! . but probably on par with the yaris to buy

cons - expensive to mod?? expensive to run?? expensive to fix?? auto option is the cheaper bet (dont like autos) but manuals are alot rarer

my favourite option from this ive got to say is the MR2 option aswell! :P

Although I always go on about wanting a Supra, you should at least own an MR2 at some point. So much fun !

I have to be honest here, i am having similar thoughts, just different cars..

The thing is, the supra will have as much space as the Yaris (boot + rear seats).. but is more eye catching, and a hellva lot faster...

The MR2, while very good, is much more limiting, and, (im sorry 2 owners) more common than the Supra (though not as common as the yaris)..

So, if it was me, i'd be tempted by the supra, the auto puts me off too, but it will make traffic jams a doddle, and with all that power... well...

I guess it comes down to, can you afford to run a supra?

yeah the 2 would have adequate luggage space i suppose. in all fair honest the yaris doesnt have much of a boot either

i dont have kids, i dont do a weekly shop and most things i just drop in the passenger footwell!

MR2s can cost you alot in bills/servicing etc.

My car seems to have been in the garage alot recently and cost me alot of wonga.

Nothing serious with the car... just I like to keep it in tip-top condition.

As long as you don't catch the bug and start modding like a trooper, you'll be alright.. lol

it would be locked away in winter just as the yaris is and i would commute by 'banger' on crap days and bring it out on the better days

the 2 seems the best option, low sporty an not so much a leap from the yaris, the supra is rarer but that onlymakes parts dearer, the 2 being old means lots of parts available, second hand an new, the yaris wil neva handle like an mr2 nor wil it go like one, i neva use back seats for carryiong people an u say u rarely do either, so mr2 it is

OH AND IT HAS POP UP HEADLIGHTS,

MR2, without question... just with the cash you'll have from selling the yaris will leave you with MORE than enough to get a minter rev5 N/A

assuming you'll get around £8k for your YTS
