Hello

can any body tel me, I have just purchased a 66 plate Auris Hybrid, from a private sale. The Mot is due in a month [ first mot], Does it void the Toyota warranty if i get the mot at a non toyota dealership?

NO, and you can have the MOT done anytime within the month before expiry and the new MOT will expire on the current date, effectively giving you up to 13 months MOT.

MOT's done outside the dealer network won't affect the warranty.

However, servicing outside the dealer network may affect the warranty in the event of a warranty claim which is dependent on correct servicing being undertaken.

Note that Toyota servicing is due every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first. So if the MOT is due, is the car due for a service?

Thanks folks,

i think it is due soon, so i will see what the dealer will charge for Mot. I know my usual garage charges £35.

Do anyone know what is not covered by the Warranty - I guess Tyres , Brake pads , Exhaust?

thanks

Jon

Should have a service and warranty book with the car, and this will give a summary of what is covered/not covered. Things like brake pads/shoes/discs, clutch, etc are wear and tear items, and new car warranties regardless of manufacturer, carry a limited warranty on these (usually something like six months from first registration). Tyres are covered by the tyre manufacturer - again common across most car manufacturers.

My local Toyota dealer charges £45 for a MOT, whether that is a special price for completion same time as a service I don’t know. Ring yours up, no need for them to know who you are.
