Hi all, New guy alert!

Great forum you have here!

I have the opportunity to purchase a very low mileage Corolla TTE Compressor, and have been researching as much as I can over the last few days. There appears to be very little practical advice out there to help with buying one (not surprising given the limited quantity produced!).

So I was after as much advice as possible from the guys who've owned and maintained them. What should I look out for? What are the expensive jobs? Etc.

A bit about the car in question:

56 reg, with only 30k miles on the clock (backed up with MOT History).

Full service history

2 owners from new

Only ran on super unleaded (no way of actually proving this)

6 months MOT

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi Marty, a good place to start would be here:

Whilst it may not be Compressor-specific you may find a lot of similarities between this and a regular T-Sport.

There was another thread just for Compressors, but I can't find it right now, may not have been on this forum.

I may also suggest going around to your local Toyota dealer and speaking to the service team, if you're as lucky as I was, you may get an experienced mechanic who will spill the beans for you.

EDIT: I would start with the basic stuff:

  • Engine oil
  • Oil filter
  • Spark plugs
  • Cabin filter
  • Air filter

All the inexpensive little jobs you could do yourself or trust a local garage to do. Another one to look out for is the compressor itself - I believe supercharger oil needs changing there, but can't tell you how or the suggested intervals. You can try your local Toyota dealer to see if they have any specials for service items - I bought all OEM service parts (minus spark plugs) from my local for under £50, effectively engine oil came free!

Also found a big thread by Compressor owners, again, not everything may be relevant to you, but well worth a read to see what may lie ahead in terms of common faults and maintenance:

Hopefully someone with a Compressor can advise you if anything else needs attention.
