Boost Controller Choices ?

Guys what boost controller shall i get...i want something easy to set up, good looking :P and reliable, i was hoping it will display in PSI aswell and perhaps tho not necessarily have scramble boost....

Am very close to buying a greddy profec b spec 2 (price is an issue too) or perhaps a blitz dual sbc,

I have a SAFC2 so the apexi avcr was an option tho i've been told it don't display in psi and is a b*tch to use....

Opinions on the greddy or other choices wud be much appreciated

on a budget i'm told (as long as set up by someone that has a good o2 sensor) that the grainger valve is a good bet. Melt your pistons with too much boost, kill your car, but if set up and not played with very reliable.

The AVCR is nice, it doesn't display in PSI but kg/cm2 .. which is near enough the same as bar ..

I can't believe Apexi didn't add a mph/kmph switch as a PSI/BAR/kg switch .. seems obvious to me ..

the greddy profec is good. it's pretty easy to use. really easy to set up. i only had problems because i didnt cap off my t-vsv and actuator, so for a while i couldnt set my boost. now it runs great. psi isnt really shown like "14.8" however. 14.8 would be read as 148. i got mine for $290 u.s. dollars. avc-r retail at about 3-400 around here.

You can buy the AVC-R on eBay for about £250 plus postage direct from Aussie land, the profec is about £210 plus postage.

There was a type 1 AVC-R on eBay a few weeks ago and I lost out on it - went for £75!

Do a search on eBay for 'boost controller' for loads of options and about 20 different types of G Valve.

Right heres the scoop Either a Blitz sbc ID (one with the screen) or a greddy profec b spec II (cheaper by £50) what should i go for ???

erm...

I would go for the Apexi - purely because Bibbs uses one, and knows his stuff!! However, after that the Greddy seems the one of choice.

mister2 whats the profec b spec 2 like...does it display in psi ? does it help to smooth out the boost curve ? is the display hard to see ?

never really tried figuring what the maxed out low setting is. i just keep mine around 10lbs.

anyways, the profec is very easy to use. it was very easy to install too. took me about 45 mins simply because i had to unscrew a few plates and remove a few panels to route the hoses and wires. it does display in psi, however, 14.8psi would be read as 148. it also show in kpa err kg/cm if u wanted to. and to smooth out the boost curve, u just mess around with the percent gains. the display is really easy to see. it glows a nice blue glow. then if u boost close to the "warning psi" u set it to, it'll start to beep and the screen will turn red. then to switch from "lo" to "hi" u just push a lil button. theres also a little device that is compatable with the profec. it's a little remote switch that attaches to your steering wheel. there are some deals that sell the items together. ive seen some around here for $350 u.s. but the button makes it a lot easier to switch from lo to hi as it is already by ur thumb on the steering wheel. great for those intense races where u cant take ur eyes of the road to find the button on the profec.
