What Boost?

Guys what should i have my boost set at? When the cars together its going to be setup on millways r/r . I want to know what is 100% safe not going to melt things, blow gaskets etc?

it'll basically be stock, the timing is going to be played with on standard cams as they think theres a few bhp to be found.

adjustable pullies

TB- Developments throttle body

FCD

and the MBC will be the only engine mods for the time being. Rev 2 engine?

Many thanks :)

14/15 psi is sensible and within tolerances ..

17 when you add WI or a good IC ..

What are you going to set the boost up with?

How about a G-valve as well to save your acutator taking a hammering.

setting boost with a grainger valve, keeping it cheap :) also i'll go with what the adverts say and its faster acting than electronic controllers so better

Makes sense - can you tell me how much Millway are charging you to fit and tune the FCD and G Valve.

Don't know about it being faster acting - you just set it manually and there it is! It's massive disadvantage is that you cannot adjust the boost once its set... 15psi... mmm I will do this when my tubby turns up!

don't know really, the estimate for fitting the turbo conversion had setup r/r time in on it £700 total

15psi mate

Like bibbs said 17psi with WI. I'll be going this route the end of the month when I get the remap, so it will be curious to see what 17psi produces.

Are you gonna get a decent exhaust/decat/induction kit ?

I'd set it about 12-13 psi as your gonna get spikes.

'spikes' - could you elaborate please!

Surely with the G valve the car can only boost according to the preload in the spring, and if it's set to 15psi, this is what it will boost?

it's a broblem with MBC's in general .. due to their nature you will get spikes in the boost ..

So if you want 14psi .. set the FCD to 17 and it should cover them.

Yeah...FCD set to a safe level will act as a safety back up to boost spikes. IF you have any you will probably find they happen on nice cold days/nights....when temps are down :)

Also just be aware the factory ecu doesn't have fuel maps above around 12 psi either....use gas with decent octane in it.
