Thanks for this so I ordered in March 22 an Excel JBL 2.0 in pearl white. So in theory I will get in June 23 still on 0% finance?

Well, if fulfilled by March I'm more certain of the 0%. Toyota figured out that going to customers and asking us to pony up extra cash was a surefire way to lose orders. Apparently Jaguar did do that!

Post March, we're at the mercy of Toyota/manufacturing/Dealer. Our dealer is keen to keep helping as much as possible, so it could vary by dealer?

May be worth a call to go on a fishing expedition with your dealer

Me too, I wrote a 17,000 word dissertation on the subject working for Danaher who employed ex Japanese Toyota manufacturing and operations directors to sort their companies issues!

I asked Toyota UK 3 weeks ago to answer the 0% finance question as it was not clear. No answer, clearly Toyota are trying to address the issue but the messaging is an abject failure. They sell on volume, I hope they do the right thing.

I am reluctant to nag my dealer I was told Feb 23 in September 22 and I am hoping a MY 23 may appear without my intervention or incurring any costs!

Who would have thought that buying a product directly from a manufacturer would be such a train wreck! At any other time customers would vote with their feet yet we are all here clinging onto the vague hope we might get the car we order 12 months after ordering it 🙃

Then again these delays are not just with Toyota Most other manufacturers have similar issues with long waiting times, specs being changed, finance rates affected by rising interest rates, driver shortages across Europe, Covid, parts supplied affected, etc, etc.

I agree but a post 3 month wait for a new car pre covid and wars from any manufacturer would have made them go bust

Have a look at what some stellantis* customers are facing.

Possibly.

However, nowadays most car manufacturers, including Toyota ($186b in 2021/22), VW ($185b), Mercedes. ($109b), etc, have had to build higher levels of debt in order to continue.

My dealer invited me to contact them every 2 week, so I am 😁.

For me, the risk end of March, is that Toyota look at the risk and see it is an acceptable one to take to not continue the 0%. Betting that by that point a lot of customers will be too invested and "willing" to take the new terms (as other manufacturers will be offering similar APR terms and wait times will still be long).

We'll wait to see what the offer is, taking into account vehicle price and finance rates and go from there. But we ordered as the offer worked at the time - in the fortunate position that we didn't need to buy (and arguably still don't).

I sold my Alfa last year at peak prices, long story but brought it with my heart rather than my head! I am currently nursing a 12 year old Astra and it’s our only car! If Toyota muck me about then I will bail regardless of how long I have waited. I will go used with Mazda or Honda

Isn't every Alfa bought with heart? 😁

Fair shout. We looked at Used/Nearly New but our savings are aside for home improvements, so 0% offered us an affordable option. Currently running a 17 reg Astra, which has plenty of life left, but had hoped to swap it while it had some value.

Glad to see some people getting vehicles, I'm almost at the point of cancelling my order (Corolla Touring Excel Black + JBL)

First ordered: May-22

1st Delivery Date: Nov-22

2nd Delivery Date: Jan-23

Just been advised that it's now looking like Jun-23!!!!

And will prob be a MY22 not MY23 also... Which I guess will impact future value? 😞

How can it be delivered half way through 2023 as a MY22 are they making both models still?

I don't understand this piece.  MY22 is no longer being made.

Your timescales are about the same as mine.

It's like Toyota are seeing what exits the production line next & then someone is frantically trying to match the vehicle produced up to a actual customer order 🤣

MY22 Production has now ended and MY23 is underway, anyone who ordered and is still receiving a MY22 and has access to their order on MyT will have been informed production has commenced, in reality the car is built and now processing through depot ay Burniston, once the car has started its transit to wherever MyT will will update to show this.

Early January, February build of MY23 is allocated mostly to dealer demos with a minimum of 2 per dealer plus a static Showroom car with over 3000 dealers across Europe that's over 9000 cars plus extras for press use.

March, April & May Production is then dedicated to unfulfilled MY22 orders.

Finally as for JBL whilst it has been discontinued until further notice in the UK it is still available elsewhere in Europe, unfortunately the factory is under EU control & whilst the UK is the single largest Toyota market Europe as a whole is bigger and often get priority over the UK.

I agree with everything you’ve stated , but communication could and should be better !

Sounds about right , as March built would be April delivery.

Dealer update on my September Excel hatchback order. Originally told me March '23 delivery (which I knew was never happening). Now shows as ETA mid May.

I'll expect that to slip too, given all the mess I read about here.. 🙄

Given that MY23 production is meant to be underway, surely the specifications must be know by now.

I can understand the supply chain difficulties and why delays are almost inevitable, however to have ended up in a position where we don’t actually know what we have ordered, or how much it will cost us is the most frustrating part.

The communication from Toyota (both UK and dealers) is very poor. As others have said already, I think they are banking on most customers to be too invested/ committed to walk away, particularly as it doesn’t appear any better (often worse) with other manufacturers.

All questions asked re the specs here https://mag.toyota.co.uk/2023-toyota-corolla-revealed-with-latest-hybrid-electric-tech/

Seem to be answered. Maybe Toyota are waiting until all My22 vehicles have been delivered over the next few weeks before releasing the full list.

No, but I did order denim blue, which seems to have knocked the order out of sequence.

I just completed a new car survey and highlighted this a one of the reasons I gave Toyota Uk A 1 star review on Feefo

And with JBL speakers as well

JBL option dropped for UK as European Corolla customers are more important in Toyota's eyes.

So based on that, I might expect my September MY23 order to arrive from June at earliest?

If you are lucky. Waiting time is still 12 months at the moment. Went to see mercedes yesterday. For some custom hybrids waiting times are still 12 months. Is not just Toyota

Just been informed my delivery is pushed back to the 26th due to transport issues. Even getting delivery is even an issue it’s crazy to think that it’s built in the UK yet many issues getting it from one end to the other
